CS2 Troubleshooting for Launch Errors, Crashes and Stutter

CS2 troubleshooting starts with what happens on screen. The game might close before the menu, freeze during a round or stutter at a high average FPS. Record what you see and check whether it happens on a practice map too. Use the result to choose one test at a time.

CS2 won't launch or crashes to desktop

Record the exact error and the time of the crash. If it started after an update, note the date and driver version too. Open the CS2 properties in Steam, go to Installed Files and run the file integrity check. If you use custom launch options, copy them to a note, clear the field and try launching the game again. CS2 stutters at high FPS. Check frame times and the connection

Enable telemetry in the game settings. Watch the frame time and network quality indicators at the moment the game hitches. Try a practice map first, then an online server. If frame time spikes recur on a local map, start by measuring what happens on your PC. CS2 has low FPS on a fast PC

Lower the resolution and repeat the same scene. Keep your other settings fixed and record the frame cap. A clear improvement suggests GPU load mattered in that run. The problem only happens on FACEIT

Check whether the symptom also appears on a non-FACEIT server with FACEIT Anti-Cheat running. FACEIT recommends this test outside the queue and says that apps interacting with the game, including overlays, can affect performance.
