MW4 PC Requirements: Official Specs, TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot
MW4 PC requirements start at a GTX 970 or 1060, 8 GB of RAM and an SSD with 115 GB free, but the hard line is TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot. Without them Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will not let you play, whatever your graphics card. The game came out on 23 October 2026 on Steam, Battle.net and the Xbox app.
Below are the official specs from Activision support dated 1 October, and what they mean for your PC.

For every tier Activision adds DirectX 12, a broadband connection and an Intel or AMD CPU with AVX instructions. Intel Arc cards need Resizable BAR enabled. Trial, beta and Windows Insider builds may not be supported. The specs refer to desktop PCs: a laptop with a GPU of the same name is not guaranteed support.
TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot: the requirement that locks out the most people
Activision states plainly that TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are required to play MW4 and says it may add more security measures. You can work around a weaker card with lower settings. Secure Boot switched off has no workaround.
You can check this in a minute without entering the BIOS. Press Windows + R, type msinfo32 and read two lines: Secure Boot State and BIOS Mode. You need the state On and the mode UEFI. Check TPM with tpm.msc, which shows specification version 2.0.

What these requirements mean for your PC
- Windows 10 only covers the minimum. The recommended and ray tracing tiers assume Windows 11.
- 8 GB of RAM will launch the game, but Activision counts 90 FPS with 16 GB. If you mostly play multiplayer, aim for 16 GB.
- An SSD is mandatory. Updates can take more than 115 GB, so leave some headroom.
- Ray tracing means 32 GB of RAM and 16 GB of VRAM. Only this tier pushes memory up that far.
Drivers
Activision lists recommended versions: AMD 26.7.1, Nvidia 616.56 and Intel 32.0.101.8974. For Nvidia cards it also announced a driver compatible with Advanced Shader Delivery, which ships precompiled shaders, for 21 October. Install the latest driver before the first launch so the game compiles less at startup.
If your hardware meets the recommended tier and you still get stutter or frame drops, the cause usually sits in the system: an old driver, the power plan, a background program injecting into the game. That is what we handle in remote PC optimization, with a before and after measurement.
In short: a GTX 1060 and 8 GB of RAM will launch MW4, an RTX 3060 Ti with 16 GB of RAM is the 90 FPS multiplayer tier, and without TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot you will not play at all. Start with msinfo32.
Does MW4 run on Windows 10?
Yes, 64-bit Windows 10 is in the minimum requirements. The recommended and ray tracing tiers assume Windows 11, and TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot apply on both.
Does MW4 require TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot?
Yes. Activision says both are required to play MW4 on PC and reserves the right to add more security measures.
How much disk space does MW4 need?
115 GB at launch, on an SSD. Later updates may need extra space.
Will MW4 run on a GTX 1060?
Yes, the GTX 970 and GTX 1060 are in the minimum requirements. That tier gets the game running, not 90 frames.
Does MW4 run on a laptop?
It may, but Activision lists requirements for desktop PCs. A mobile GPU with the same name is often slower and is not guaranteed support.
Does MW4 work on Intel Arc cards?
Yes, the Arc A580 is in the minimum tier and the Arc B580 in the recommended one. The condition: Resizable BAR enabled.
