Seven currently holds one of the highest win rates of any hero in Deadlock - around 56% - but here is the twist that changed in June 2026: his pick rate dropped to roughly 4%. After two consecutive bullet-damage nerfs, the community decided Seven was "dead" and the number of picks for this hero fell. The data says otherwise. The people still playing him win more than with almost anyone else. Seven went from the obvious first pick to a quiet, underrated monster, because the changes really only hit hybrid builds.
This guide is not a shopping list of items. It is a guide on how to think while playing Seven - from the laning phase through mid-game rotations to teamfights where you turn into a walking storm. And critically, it reflects what actually works after the June nerfs, not the old bullet-build meta that no longer exists.
Why Seven Is Still S-Tier (Despite the Nerfs)

Seven is a hero who looks like an early-game bully but is actually a late-game monster wearing the early game as a costume (you just farm). He has everything you need: AoE damage from Lightning Ball for farming, a stun from Static Charge for control, Power Surge for huge weapon DPS, and Storm Cloud as an ultimate that can win an entire teamfight on its own.
What changed in June 2026 (and why it matters)
Two patches hit Seven's bullet damage hard. The 05-22-2026 update cut bullet growth from 0.374 to 0.337, and the 06-11-2026 Minor Update cut it again from 0.337 to 0.24 - a massive reduction. Power Surge T3 also lost duration, from +12s to +10s. This effectively killed the hybrid bullet build entirely. It is now harder to have a "practically" permanent Power Surge.
Here is why Seven is still top of the win-rate charts anyway: his power was never really in raw bullets. It is in his spirit scaling, his AoE wave clear, and Storm Cloud. The spirit build - the one this guide always recommended - is now the only build, and it is barely affected by the bullet nerfs. The players who stuck with spirit Seven are quietly posting the best win rate in the game while everyone else abandoned him. That is your opportunity.
Additionally, Power Surge at Tier 2 applies -10% Spirit Resist for 6 seconds, meaning Seven amplifies his own entire spirit damage output. That is self-synergy no other hero has at this level.
Abilities - What They Do and What Order to Level

Lightning Ball (1) - You fire a ball of lightning in a straight line. It deals damage to everyone in its radius, slows enemies on hit, and stops on terrain. Your main tool for clearing waves and jungle camps. Higher tiers give extra charges and slow on enemies.
Static Charge (2) - You place a charge on an enemy hero. After a moment the charge detonates, stunning and damaging enemies in range. Your only CC and only defensive tool. Higher tiers increase range and stun duration (up to 1.8 seconds with 5 AP).
Power Surge (3) - You charge your weapon with a shock effect. Your bullets deal bonus spirit damage that jumps to nearby enemies. Tier 2 adds -10% Spirit Resist, Tier 3 adds +11 Shock Damage and +3 Max Jumps. This is your main source of DPS. Note: after the June patch, T3 now lasts 10s instead of 12s, so reload discipline matters more than ever.
Storm Cloud (4) - Ultimate - You channel an expanding storm cloud that damages all enemies in range. You gain increased bullet resist while channeling. Enemies behind obstacles do NOT take damage, so line of sight is critical.
Leveling order:
Start: Lightning Ball (1). Then: Static Charge (2), Power Surge (3). AP priority: 1 point in Lightning Ball (for 2 charges), then max Power Surge, then unlock Storm Cloud at 1 AP (for the bullet resist), then max Lightning Ball, then max Static Charge, then max Storm Cloud.
Why Power Surge before Storm Cloud? Because Power Surge is your consistent DPS. Storm Cloud is a situational tool that good players counter (Knockdown, leaving LoS). Power Surge works every time you have a magazine and enemies in range.
Build - Spirit Carry (The Only Build That Matters Now)

This is the build that keeps Seven at 56% win rate even after the bullet nerfs. It focuses on Power Surge damage with spirit scaling, transitioning into a late-game AoE monster. Because the June patches gutted bullet damage, do NOT waste souls on weapon-damage items - lean fully into spirit.
Early Game (0-3000 souls):
– Extra Regen – sustain on lane, synergy with Seven's high base regeneration
– Extra Spirit – early spirit damage on lane (prefer spirit over the old Headshot Booster path)
– Sprint Boots – mobility, helps with clearing camps and rotating to objectives.
– Monster Rounds – faster clearing of camps
Mid Game (3000-6000 souls):
– Warp Stone – A KEY item if you have trouble escaping, for example. Seven's only mobility. Engage, escape, reposition under Storm Cloud.
– Spirit Lifesteal – Survivability with Power Surge and Storm Cloud.
– Suppressor – Always scales well with Power Surge.
– Mystic Vulnerability – Stacks with the built-in -10% Spirit Resist from Power Surge. Together, you get -25%+ spirit resist.
– Surge of Power – A huge spike in Power Surge damage.
– Improved Spirit – Pure spirit damage scaling.
Late Game (6000+ souls):
– Boundless Spirit – a massive boost to all spirit stats
– Superior Duration (core item) – extends Static Charge (1.8s stun base T5) and Power Surge – more valuable now that Power Surge’s base duration has been reduced
– Unstoppable – CC immunity during Power Surge or Storm Cloud. Without this, skilled players will knock you out
– Escalating Exposure (core item) – stacks spirit damage on targets you hit multiple times (ideal for Power Surge)
Situational items:
– Echo Shard – double Static Charge = stun two targets or 6 seconds on one
– Knockdown – if enemy Seven/Dynamo is channeling
– Return Fire – against Wraith, Haze, and other gun carries
– Divine Barrier – negates debuffs or burst damage (Pocket Affliction, Wraith Telekinesis)
Alternative Build - Support Seven
Yes, Seven can be a support. This build focuses on Static Charge as CC and utility items for the team. It is less popular but has a solid win rate - and since the carry bullet build is heavily weakened, support Seven is more relevant than ever as a way to use his kit.
Key differences from carry build:
– Healing Rite instead of an early damage item at the start
– Guardian Ward early for team utility
– Divine Barrier and Healing Nova as core instead of Boundless Spirit
– Cursed Relic and Knockdown as team utility
– Superior Cooldown instead of Superior Duration
When to play Support Seven: When your team already has 2 carries and needs someone with CC and utility. Static Charge at 5 AP is a 1.8-second AoE stun - one of the strongest CC abilities in the game. If you build around that, you are valuable even without farm priority.
Game Phases

Laning Phase (0-8 minutes)
Seven is surprisingly good on lane. Lightning Ball clears waves fast, Static Charge lets you punish enemies who get close, and Power Surge adds damage to your trades.
Your lane combo: Static Charge on an enemy, Lightning Ball into the stunned target, Power Surge plus weapon fire. This kills or forces out most heroes.
Between waves, clear side jungle camps with Lightning Ball plus Power Surge. Seven is one of the fastest-farming heroes in the game. Use it.
Do NOT die on lane. You are Pos 1 (hard carry)/Pos 2 - every death delays your item spikes. If the matchup is hard, farm defensively and wait for Warp Stone.
Mid Game (8-20 minutes)
After getting Warp Stone, Seven changes completely. Now you have the mobility to rotate to other lanes for ganks (Warp Stone plus Static Charge stun equals a guaranteed kill), farm jungle camps along the way (Lightning Ball plus Power Surge clears in seconds), and contest Midboss (Storm Cloud covers the whole pit).
Your priority: farm aggressively, take fights you are sure of, push Guardians and Walkers. Seven in mid-game should have the highest soul count in the game or be close to it.
Late Game (20+ minutes)
With Boundless Spirit, Unstoppable and Escalating Exposure, Seven is a teamfight-winning machine. Your gameplan:
1. Wait until enemy CC is used on someone else
2. Warp Stone into position
3. Activate Power Surge + shoot from a distance
4. If enemies are grouping – Storm Cloud with elevation (higher = better LoS)
5. Unstoppable protects you from being interrupted by channeling
The key late-game rule for Seven: do NOT be the first person to enter a fight. Wait 3-5 seconds for enemy CC to go onto your frontliners, then enter with Power Surge and dominate. If you go in first, you get focused and die before doing anything.
Matchups

Who Seven beats (favorable matchups):
– Abrams – Static Charge keeps him at bay, Power Surge burns him through resist. He can't do anything to you if you keep your distance.
– Mo & Krill – Lightning Ball and Power Surge DPS break their sustain. Storm Cloud is a nightmare for them because they can't escape.
– McGinnis – Your AoE destroys her turrets. Storm Cloud covers the entire setup zone most of the time.
– Shiv – Static Charge stun stops his aggression. Power Surge outDPS him in trades, but a good Shiv will also cause problems.
Who beats Seven (hard matchups):
– Vindicta – Outranges you from a distance. Seven doesn't have a gap closer (Warp Stone helps but doesn't solve the problem). Her Flight allows you to avoid Storm Cloud.
– Wraith – Telekinesis interrupts Storm Cloud. Card Trick damage from a distance. High mobility makes it difficult to use Static Charge before Wraith escapes.
– Pocket – Affliction debuff is brutal. Pocket can enter Enchanter's Suitcase to avoid Storm Cloud. Strong poke from a distance.
– Lash – Ground Strike interrupts channeling. High mobility, hard-to-hit Static Charge. Good ganks against Seven without mobility.
Tip for hard matchups: If you play against Vindicta or Wraith, Return Fire is mandatory. It gives you stats and reflects their bullet damage. Against Pocket - Divine Barrier negates Affliction.
Common Mistakes

Using Storm Cloud as an opener. The most common mistake. Good players have Knockdown, CC, or simply leave LoS. Use Storm Cloud in the second half of a fight, once enemy counterplay has been spent.
Not reloading before Power Surge. Power Surge lasts a set duration - and after the June nerf, that duration is shorter (10s at T3). If you activate it with 5 bullets in the magazine, you lose half the DPS to reloading. Always reload before Power Surge.
Standing in one spot during Storm Cloud. Yes, Seven does not move while channeling. But BEFORE activating you can position. Look for elevation - a roof, a rise, a zipline. The higher you are, the better the LoS and the harder it is for enemies to escape.
Ignoring jungle camps. Seven farms jungle faster than almost any hero. Lightning Ball plus Power Surge clears a camp in seconds. If you are not hitting a side camp after pushing a wave, you are losing hundreds of souls per minute.
Buying weapon-damage items. Cultist Sacrifice, or items with Attack Speed, are still fine.
FAQ

What is the best Seven build in June 2026?
The spirit carry build with Power Surge as the main damage source. Core items: Warp Stone, Spirit Lifesteal, Mystic Vulnerability, Boundless Spirit, Unstoppable. The bullet/hybrid build is dead after the June nerfs - go full spirit. Full build suggestion above.
Did the June nerfs kill Seven?
No - they killed his bullet build, not the hero. Two patches (05-22 and 06-11) cut his bullet growth from 0.374 down to 0.24. But his spirit kit is untouched, and he still posts the highest win rate in the game at around 56%. The community abandoned him (pick rate dropped to ~4%), which makes him an underrated pick right now.
Is Seven hard to play?
Yes and no. Seven is one of the most beginner-friendly heroes in Deadlock. His abilities do not require precise aim (Lightning Ball is AoE, Static Charge is point-and-click, Storm Cloud is channeled). The difficulty is in positioning and timing, not mechanics.
How do you counter Seven?
Knockdown interrupts Storm Cloud. Vindicta and Wraith outrange him. Leaving line of sight negates Storm Cloud. Divine Barrier removes Static Charge. In general - CC and mobility are his weak points.
Power Surge or Storm Cloud - what to max first?
Power Surge. It is more consistent and gives you DPS in every situation. Storm Cloud is situational and counterable. 1 AP in Storm Cloud after unlocking (for the bullet resist), then max Power Surge.
When should I activate Storm Cloud?
NOT as an opener. Wait for enemies to spend their CC (Knockdown, Silence, Stun), then activate from elevation. Ideally in the second half of a teamfight, when enemies are already low and have no resources to interrupt you.
What is Seven's win rate?
As of June 2026: ~56% win rate with roughly a 4% pick rate – the highest win rate of all 38 champions in the game, despite (or thanks to) being unpicked after the nerfs. ~ Source – Deadlock Tier List
