What eDPI is and why it is the only number that matters
eDPI is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It is the only value that lets you compare two players, because 800 DPI at 0.35 sensitivity and 400 DPI at 0.70 both give exactly 280 eDPI and feel identical. That is why copying a pro's sensitivity without checking their DPI makes no sense at all.
The pro average in 2026
The typical range among professionals is 250-320 eDPI, with a median of roughly 267. That works out to about 45 centimetres of mouse movement for a full 360-degree turn. Around 85% of pros play at 400 or 800 DPI, with 800 by far the most common.
Anything above 400 eDPI is a statistical outlier - only around 5% of VCT pros play there.
Ranges by role
- Duelists - slightly higher, 280-350 eDPI. They need fast turns and aggressive angle clearing. Aspas plays at 320.
- Controllers and Sentinels - slightly lower, 220-280 eDPI. Precise utility placement and stability matter more. Boaster plays at 208.
These are tendencies, not rules. TenZ is a duelist and plays at 240 eDPI, below the median. Your role points you in a direction, but it does not replace testing it yourself.
Where to start if you have no idea
Set 800 DPI and 0.35 sensitivity. That gives 280 eDPI, close to the pro average, and a sensible compromise between precision on headshots and speed when clearing angles. From there adjust by 0.02-0.03 at a time and stay on each setting for a week or two before judging it. Changing sensitivity every other match is the fastest way to never build muscle memory.
When the problem is not your sensitivity
Very often "inconsistent aim" has nothing to do with eDPI. A sensor skipping pixels, too low a polling rate, mouse acceleration left on in Windows, or a dozen milliseconds of input lag all produce exactly the same "sometimes I hit, sometimes I do not" feeling. What eDPI do Valorant pros use in 2026?
Typically 250-320, with a median around 267 across a sample of more than 640 players. The extremes stretch a long way in both directions, but half the field sits inside that narrow band.
Is higher DPI better?
No. Above roughly 3200 DPI the difference in smoothness is practically unmeasurable, and 85% of pros play at 400 or 800. What matters is eDPI, not DPI on its own. The exception is very high resolution monitors, where higher DPI gives finer cursor steps.
Should I play on my favourite pro's sensitivity?
Only if you have similar desk space and a similar mouse grip. Low eDPI needs room - on a small mousepad you will be lifting the mouse constantly. Start at 280 and adjust towards your own preference.
How many centimetres per 360 is a good value?
Around 40-50 cm matches the pro range. Below 30 cm you are turning with your wrist and losing precision on heads; above 60 cm you often run out of desk space for a fast turn behind you.
Does Valorant eDPI carry over to CS2?
Not directly. The two games use a different yaw value, so the same eDPI gives a different number of centimetres per turn. Compare using cm/360, not eDPI alone. CS2 sensitivity is roughly 3.18 times Valorant sensitivity at the same DPI.
