There are many myths circulating in the gaming world. “Clean up your hard drive and you'll get more FPS” – that's nonsense. To reach a certain level, you need to understand how your hardware and game mechanics work.
This glossary was created so that you can stop getting lost in the marketing of equipment manufacturers or content creators who farm views, and start understanding the technical facts. Here is a complete guide to the terminology used in UltimateMove, during coaching, and in professional esports.

In this section, you will find technical terms that determine the fluidity of your gameplay. This is where we fight for every millisecond of advantage.
FPS (Frames Per Second)
The number of frames that COULD be displayed on your screen per second.

Mit: “The human eye can only see 60 FPS.”

Fact: In competitive games (CS2, Valorant), more FPS means less control lag, even if you have a 60Hz monitor.
1% Low FPS (Most important value)
The average of the worst 1% of frames. It is this parameter, not the “average FPS,” that determines whether you experience stuttering.

Example: You may have an average of 400 FPS, but 1% Low at 60 FPS – the game will then stutter. At UltimateMove, we strive to make 1% Low as high and stable as possible.
Input Lag (Input delay)
The time that elapses between clicking and the response on the screen.

It is the sum of delays: mouse/keyboard etc + system (Windows) + game + monitor.

Our optimization drastically reduces system input lag, giving you the feeling that the mouse “floats” perfectly with your hand.
DPC Latency (Deferred Procedure Calls)
Delay in processing system drivers. If a driver (e.g., network card) “throttles” the processor, micro-stuttering occurs.

High DPC = lag, even on NASA hardware.
Bloatware
Unwanted software pre-installed on Windows (e.g., unused Microsoft applications, trial versions of antivirus programs). They consume CPU resources in the background. We remove them without mercy.
Polling Rate (mouse Hz)
The frequency with which the mouse reports its position to the computer.

Standard: 1000Hz (1ms).

Pro Standard 2026: 4000Hz or 8000Hz. However, it requires a powerful processor and perfect system optimization, otherwise it will cause FPS drops/stuttering.
Bottleneck
A situation in which one component (e.g., a weak processor) limits the performance of another (e.g., a powerful graphics card). In CS2, the most common bottlenecks are the processor (CPU) and RAM.
3. Game Mechanics & Coaching (CS2 / Valorant)
Terms you will hear during our coaching sessions and demo analyses. Without understanding them, it is difficult to reach Faceit Level 10 or Immortal.
Crosshair Placement
The art of keeping your sights where your opponent's head is likely to appear.
Good sight alignment reduces the need for “flicks” (quick mouse movements) and drastically increases Time-to-Kill (TTK).
Counter-Strafing
A technique in CS2 that involves briefly pressing a key in the opposite direction of movement (e.g., A, then quickly D) to immediately stop the character and achieve 100% accuracy.
Game Sense
The ability to “read” the game. Predicting your opponent's moves, rotations on the map, and managing your economy. This is what separates a player with good aim from a complete player.
Peekers Advantage
A network phenomenon in which a player who leans out (aggressor) sees their opponent a fraction of a second before their opponent sees them.
This is due to server delays and interpolation. In coaching, we teach how to use this (e.g., XANTARES peek).
Pre-fire
Shoot at a specific spot before you see your opponent, based on your prediction (Game Sense) or information from your team.
Utility
All grenades (Smoke, Flash, Molotov, HE). At UltimateMove, we teach “Line-ups,” which are settings that allow you to throw grenades perfectly on target from a safe position.
4. Equipment and Screens (Gaming Gear)
Refresh Rate
Measured in Hz (Hertz). Determines how many times per second the monitor draws a new image.
60Hz = Office.
144Hz = Minimum for gaming.
240Hz/360Hz = Esports standard.
540Hz+ = World leader (2025/2026).
G-Sync / FreeSync
Image synchronization technologies. In theory, they eliminate image tearing.
Important: In e-sports, we often disable these features or configure them in a specific way (e.g., with the frame rate locked below the monitor's Hz) to minimize input lag.
Motion Blur
A graphic effect that blurs the image during rapid movement.
In singles games: it looks like a movie.
In e-sports: Your number one enemy. We always turn it off so we can see our opponents sharply in motion.
5. Specific terms that you will find in our offer.
BIOS/UEFI optimization
Manual tuning of motherboard settings (voltage, RAM clock speed, disabling power saving modes) that cannot be changed from within Windows. The foundation of stable FPS.
Placebo
The effect where you think the game works better because you installed a “magic program.”
At UltimateMove, we fight against placebos. We use analytical tools (CapFrameX) to show improvement in results in black and white (Frametimes charts).
Replay Analysis (Demo - VOD - Review)
A coaching service that involves watching a replay of your match with a coach who points out mistakes in positioning, decisions, and aiming.
6. FAQ – Frequently asked questions
How does Optimization differ from Formatting? Formatting is just clearing data. Optimization involves hundreds of changes to the registry, services, drivers, and BIOS that alter the way the system manages the game. Formatting restores the system to its “office” state, while we change it into a “gaming” system.
Is overclocking (OC) safe? Yes, it is used by manufacturers as standard. If it is done by professionals, nothing bad should happen. At UltimateMove, we use safe voltages and test stability (stress tests) so you don't have to worry about hardware failure.
What does high FPS give me if I have a 60Hz monitor? It reduces input lag. The game frame is generated faster, so information about the enemy's position is more up to date. Playing at 300 FPS on a 60Hz monitor gives you an advantage over someone who has 60 FPS on the same monitor.
