Deadlock Characters: All 41 Heroes and the New Ones From City Never Sleeps
Deadlock characters number exactly 41 playable heroes as of 12 October 2026, including Rat King, Baba and Solomon from the City Never Sleeps update. Three more are waiting in the vote, and the next one should arrive on Tuesday 13 October at 23:00 Polish time.
Valve does not assign heroes official roles. So for every character I list the three tags Valve uses to describe it, the weapon and what the hero wins fights with. I play Deadlock and coach it, so I wrote these for the question players ask me: what does this character actually do, and does it fit my style.
New heroes from City Never Sleeps
The 29 September update announced six characters. Players pick the order in a vote in the pre-match lobby, and so far Valve has released two heroes a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays at 23:00 Polish time.
Who is still on the ballot

A tier list shows who wins the most matches today, but it will not tell you whether that character fits your style. Start with the role you enjoy in other games and check the hero in our daily Deadlock tier list, which we calculate from ranked matches.

When does the next Deadlock hero come out?
If Valve keeps the Tuesday and Friday rhythm, on Tuesday 13 October at 23:00 Polish time. The following dates would then be 16 and 20 October.
Which hero is the strongest right now?
Rat King leads ranked: a 57.1% win rate in the ranked queue in our tier list (as of 12 October 2026), despite the ult nerf on 5 October. The meta shifts after every patch, so check the current state in the tier list.
Who is Baba in Deadlock?
Baba is the second character from the City Never Sleeps vote, in the game since 6 October 2026. She is based on Baba Yaga: she steals Spirit Power, throws tea with three effects and summons pigeons with her Feed The Birds ult.
Do Deadlock heroes have roles?
Valve does not assign official roles. Players split heroes into carries, frontliners and supports, and Valve describes each one with three tags. You will find the role breakdown in our roles guide.
