"Deadlock

Deadlock VOD review starts with footage you can access and a question you want answered. Prepare the match ID or a recording, your hero and a description of the moment when you lost track of your plan. That is enough to start reviewing a specific decision.

Watching a loss again can easily turn into looking for someone to blame. Write down what you wanted to achieve, which information you had before acting and what you did afterwards. Use those three points to guide the review.

Choose a match you remember

Pick a recent game in which your recurring problem appeared. A loss can help, but so can a win with a moment you do not understand. Your best-ever result rarely represents your everyday play.

Check access to the material before arranging a review. A match ID identifies the game, but saving the number alone does not guarantee replay availability at the time of the session. If you have a recording, check the picture, audio and link permissions.

Keep your perspective and the context

A recording should show the interface, map and gameplay. A clip containing only the death may omit the decision that led to it. Include the lead-up and what happened afterwards.

Include your hero, your goal and the match date. Add the game version if you know it. Valve describes Deadlock as being in early development, so older footage needs care around changed items, the map and rules.

Write your question before watching

Choose an event rather than only asking why the team lost. For example: “After leaving lane, I did not know where to go” or “I entered fights and lost the chance to deal damage”. You can then review which decision came before the problem and whether it recurs.

Pause and ask where the opponents you actually saw were, who could help you and what you gained or gave up elsewhere on the map. Judge the decision using information available at the time. A spectator’s knowledge of a hidden opponent was not your knowledge while playing.

Use the analyzer as a starting point

Our Deadlock Replay Analyzer helps us work with match material. Open the tool and check the features available for your file. Use its numbers and event markers to choose a passage to watch more closely.

A statistic alone does not explain a player’s intention. A high death count shows an outcome, but the match context is needed to investigate why it happened. Note what the tool or recording cannot establish too. That gap matters more than an invented explanation.

Choose something to check in your next games

Turn the observation into behaviour you can recognise during play. If you joined a fight without support, “play better” gives you little to work with. Check where your allies are and what your plan is before a similar situation. That is an example of reviewing a decision, without claiming one rule wins every game.

After the next few matches, come back to the same question. Compare your decisions. The match result says little here. You can make a better play in a loss and repeat the same mistake in a win.

When a second perspective helps

If you keep reaching the same conclusion, show the material to someone who can explain their reasoning. UltimateMove offers a Deadlock session on Discord or offline written review. Send your question before booking so we can confirm the scope.

If the picture freezes while you play, note that separately. A replay shows the match but does not replace a measurement of your PC while you were playing. For that symptom, use the frametime guide and the PC optimization.

Prepare accessible footage, context and one question. You can then start reviewing independently or bring it to a session. Valve’s Steam pageconfirms the game’s development status; our service pages describe the review formats.

Frequently asked questions

Should I send a win or a loss?

Choose a game containing the problem you want to discuss. The result alone does not determine its usefulness. You should remember your decisions and be able to access the material.

</details>

Is the match ID enough?

First confirm that the replay can be opened. If you cannot access it, prepare a recording or contact us before booking to agree on alternative material.

</details>

Do I need to record team voice chat?

We do not require it to begin discussing a review. Your explanation of what you intended also provides context. If you share other people’s voices, agree on that recording scope with them.

</details>

Does the analyzer replace a coach?

The tool helps organise the material. Explaining a decision needs context: the player’s goal, information available at that moment and how the situation developed.

</details>

Can I get a review without a live session?

Yes. UltimateMove offers an offline review with written feedback. The service page contains the details and current terms.

</details>

Can a replay measure my input lag?

A replay cannot establish your system’s full latency while you were playing. A suspected performance issue needs a separate measurement on your own PC.

</details>
